Cocktail Hour

I find Mulled Wine hard to pass up at the best of times, and it’s a simple cocktail that doesn’t involve sourcing hard to find ingredients. Although it’s definitely a better fit for a cold evening, I’ve just discovered that for warm weather, chilled mulled wine is a thing – well, who knew?

Mulled Wine

Ingredients:

50g Dark Muscovado Sugar

4 Cloves

1 Cinnamon stick

1 Star Anise

1 lemon

2 Clementine’s

150 ml water

1 bottle of red wine

150ml Cointreau

Add the sugar, cloves, cinnamon stick, star anise and water to a pan, and heat slowly. Bring to a boil then reduce quickly to a low heat for a couple of minutes. Slice lemon and clementine’s and add with Cointreau and red wine to the pan. Heat without boiling, and simmer until the flavours have infused. Serve in a heatproof receptacle. If there’s any left, then chill overnight.
